Summary The Moringanews network is dedicated to a multipurpose tree that is widespread among the tropical zone: Moringa spp. The tree has raised interest for its ability to clarify water (through its seeds), for its medicinal properties, for its oil production (used in cosmetics) and for the very high nutritional value of its leaves.
The network was formalised after an international workshop was organised by the French association PROPAGE in Tanzania in 2001. The workshop brought together more than 100 participants from 25 countries. After the workshop, PROPAGE created the presented web site to keep together the workshop participants and reach more people interested in Moringa, with the following aims:
allow a quick and direct communication between actors involved in Moringa related activities, through a mailing list and a directory of people and projects.
To be a reference for the dissemination of reliable information (literature and websites databases, original articles and reports, proceedings from the 2001 international Moringa workshop, news).
The website is visited by development workers, scientists, entrepreneurs, students, etc. As of September 2004, over 260 network members are registered in the
